Devotional Message: Remembering His Faithfulness, Walking into the New

As a new year begins, it’s natural to look forward—to new goals, new opportunities, and fresh starts. But before we rush ahead, Isaiah invites us to look back. “I will tell of the kindnesses of the Lord, the deeds for which He is to be praised.”The prophet pauses to remember God’s mercy, compassion, and unfailing love toward His people. This passage reminds us that God has never been distant from our pain. “In all their distress, He too was distressed.” The Lord didn’t merely observe Israel’s struggles—He entered into them. He saved them, redeemed them, carried them, and sustained them. That same God walks with us into this new year. Every burden you carried last year, every silent prayer, every unseen tear—God was present then, and He is present now. The new year does not erase the past, but it redeems it. God’s faithfulness in previous seasons becomes the foundation for our faith in the next one. When we remember how He carried us through what we thought would break us, we gain courage to trust Him with what lies ahead. As you step into this year, let gratitude guide you. Let remembrance strengthen you. And let hope rise—not because the year will be easy, but because God will be with you in it.

Prayer: Lord, as this new year begins, we pause to remember Your faithfulness. Thank You for carrying us through every season—especially the difficult ones. As we move forward, help us trust You with what we cannot yet see. Let Your compassion guide us, Your presence comfort us, and Your love sustain us. We step into this year confident not in ourselves, but in You. Amen.

Call to Worship

I will tell of the kindnesses of the LORD, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the LORD has done for us— yes, the many good things he has done for Israel, according to his compassion and many kindnesses. He said, “Surely they are my people, children who will be true to me”; and so he became their Savior. In all their distress he too was distressed, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and mercy he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.
